AAZ head info needed - valve face depth
« on: March 27, 2010, 01:23:22 pm »
Dr Diesel and myself are trying to build a database of the valve face depth on various AAZ heads. If you have one apart and can measure both the intake and exhaust that would be swell. The MK2 Bentley lists the tolerances but for some reason it was left out of the MK3 Bentley. Also if you know if your head has had the seats cut, head milled etc that would also be good to know. Thanks y'all

Which is to say, please send us both!  ;D
Accuracy is critical.
Thanks!

Just to be completely clear, we're looking for the measurement from the valve faces (both intake and exhaust, all 8, if possible) to the head's gasket surface. Effectively, how deeply recessed the valves are from the head deck.

I'll get you some dimensions this evening. My head has about 100k original miles and is worn some.
How accurate do you want? Is plus/minus .001 close enough?

Yesh 0.001 is accurate enough.

Actually we'll take any numbers as long as we know what the accuracy range is.

Sorry to bring it up from the dead.

I am wondering if this info would apply to 1.6 mechanical head vw. I am thinking of my next build and want to be ready if needed.
