Alternator Swap
« on: February 21, 2010, 01:57:09 pm »
Did a bit of searching but couldnt find much.  Im looking at the clutched pulley setup to save my crank since i checked it and put in a new bolt.  I know you can modify the oem aaz alt to fit but im wondering if anything will swap in directly without affecting the pulley offset.  Anything work?

Pulley 028 903 119 AA should spin right on and has the correct offset... at least it worked fine for me.  I added an extra bolt in this thread for safety, but having seen how the TDIs do it I wouldn't bother again:

This is for the tensioner type, will it work on the non a/c model as well

Mine is not a fixed type and has a spring underneth the alt ( 90 amp ) keeping the belt tight.
