You have a special balancing machine that is accurate to like 1000th of gram or something like that. They get the shaft and put a wheel on and balance that and mark the position, than they do the same thing for the other side and when they put the turbo back together they postion everything back to where it was marked. It is very important that this id done because of the high rpm of the turbo as stated by dr.diesel. I would discourage just reinstalling the bearings and calling it good. It will work sometimes but not all the time.
