so at 5350rpm is pretty much when stock fueling in neutral gives out.. I think it should be able to sustain that rpm for quite some time. I mean i have driven my 1.7 gasser at 5500rpm performing an "Italian tuneup" for like 30-45 seconds and it was fine. I think i read somewhere the pump can fuel up to 7000rpm before it starts to skip on the cam plate and cannot provide anymore fuel. Would a stock engine be able to sustain 6500+?like would the internals be able to hold up to that?
IIRC Jake (fspgtd), missed a shift on his autocrosser and the valves floated letting the lifters come out of the bores or something. I think he revved high in 2nd and then hit 1st instead of 3rd gear.......I think it revved to 8-9k.
