Just a consideration at this point. I'm coming to a point with the cars that I have here that I'd like to make some adjustments/changes and some room to work on a few other things.  Having the TT now, I'm not sure how much I'd actually get to drive my mTDI Rabbit during the summer, etc. Plus, it needs some minor cosmetic work, etc. as well.

On the opposite side of things though...I have quite a few projects (as do we all).  My particular focus right now is wanting to restore the bus here at some point in the near future as well as the 66 Corvair Monza that I picked up here this last spring. I've given thought with the puppy we just got at the end of summer (labrador retriever) that it might be nice to have a old Jeep Wagoneer (thinking of swapping a Cummins 12v or 24v in) or possibly an Cherokee that is in nice shape that I would be able to take the dog in, use for mountain biking, etc. (a utility I lost when I sold the b3 here and got the TT).  The Rabbit is my baby though and the drivetrain...a DREAM for any mk1/mk2 that wants power/economy at both ends of the spectrum...

So...at this point. Just entertaining interest, offers and consideration with the possibility of selling it.

So...I've given though to.

1. Selling the entire car
2. Selling the shell seperately from the drivetrain and then
3. Selling complete, READY TO RUN, drop and go crazy mTDI setup (also have a 02a TDI CTN tranny to go in as well as the european cable shift setup)
4. Sell Rabbit...keep drivetrain....sell bus and find a vanagon to swap it into :)

or who the hell knows what else I could consider :)

Some highlights of the car...

-79 GERMAN made car...solid floor, some rust in rockers and on front mount fo core support.  Currently complete just removed the windshield and rear hatch glass
-Complete Ground Control/Eibach ERS coilover setup on Bilstein Sports
-ATS cup (original...not repros) 15x7 "White Edition"
-Full techtonics exhaust
-Poly bushes (front only)
-tons of spares including a nearly mint OEM German style dash, etc.
-Working converted gas tach intergal to the dash (Used early mk1 gas tach, removed clock, etc)
-Euro bumpers
-10.1 brake setup with rebuilt calipers.  Have rear disc setup with MKIV rears to swap on rear

I'm sure there is more...

Drivetrain specifically...

-Completely rebuilt 1z/AHU motor, no seal, bearing, etc. left unrestored/refurbed
-Machined pistons (to slightly lower CR without effecting squish and removing weak point of ALH piston) w/ ceramic coating on tops and skirts (for heat protection and cylinder wear/protection
-Race 520 injectors by Bosio
-FULLY funtioning with a ton more fuel possible, rebuilt and tuned 12mm Bosch Cummins 4bt based injection pump
-8v turbo manifold with Merc 300D turbo (if I keep...upgrading to a Holset), but supports 25psi without issue
-AWIC setup (currently uninstalled) have a air-air unit as well though
-Custom intake manifold (G60 based) and I also have a D24 manifold that I was working on
-low miles, CTN TDI 02a trans ready to go
-also have european cable style shift setup (COMPLETE) for 02a swap into mk1 mk2

I'm sure there is more that I can think of. Just toying with the idea. More info on the build can be found here at TDI CLUB.

Like I said...only thinking at this point...possibilities....

Really? That's such a nice car. Except for the 4 doors, but still very nice. Nobody has to worry about you cutting any corners with the engine build, that's for sure. Too bad I don't live closer or else I'd try to convince my wife that we need more diesel stuff and I'd snap up that engine.

$2500 for the complete motor alone.  300 for the 02a CTN TDI trans if you buy the motor.

thats not really a measurement of performance that I really look at...other than boost onset and with my setup, it depends on how much fueling I'm running, advance, etc. as I had it marked out in a couple different ways and could adjust it in a manner of minutes.

Typically...onset prior to 2300rpms.  Depending on how much fuel I was pushing through the R520's...max boost well before 4k. Currently I was really limited in where the numbers would really sit at since it has the 020 FN trans in it.  The CTN would make a world of a difference and really stretch things out :) Its been too long since I last drove it...neck snapper :)

Still available...had quite a few inquires...nothing solid.

I would also consider trades for a Jeep Cherokee...would need to be 4x4 and be in good shape, rust free, etc. Grand Cherokee's need not apply :)
Again...only reason I'm selling is that I'd like to have a more mountain biking friendly vehicle, that I can transport my labrador in, use for camping, etc. etc. since I have the TT and the Corvair here for fun at the moment.

Love the car, wish i could buy it....but I really think if a Jeep is what you are considering you REALLY should look into a diesel landcruiser wagon. Jeeps suck! (I had one for a taxi, trust me on this!)

Or even a AWD supercharged previa. They rule!!!!

I'd love too...if I could find one and/or afford one...cheapest I have seen them for lately is about 8k...lucky. I'd settle for a nice westy vanagon and sell my 72 Westy (would solve a few problems...want to keep a camper...but can't find a decent vanagon...and can't swap a aircooled to diesel...just isn't right :) )

Wouldn't mind finding a Rover or similar either. Landcruiser...fun too...not in this rust belt though. Nothing decent it seems.

Had offers for everything I have left (thats TDI trans, euro cable clutch....+ the car as it sits too....for $3500). As it sits now....$3000 . Less the ATS Cups (as they are ORIGINAL ATS cups...not copys/recasts)....$2750.

But...no one has shown any money...and since its not killing me to get rid of it. If I need to part it to make my money on it, I'll do that.
