Headgasket for a hyd 1.6
« on: November 30, 2009, 09:45:29 am »
I was looking at gaskets from my parts catalog, and teh AAZ 1.9 looks mostly like the earlier one, just
a different material.  Is this an upgrade path of any sort?  Thickness issue?

Ok, I see that the AAZ gasket will fit.  Looks like the thickness is off slightly.
I have a two notch on now, I can go slightly thicker to be on the safe side.
Not sure if it's worth it with a NA motor.  Hmm.

And after more hours spent with my eyes bleeding, I figure out I really ought to
buy an A2 bentley, they changed the damn head gasket thicknesses AGAIN
when they went from mech head to hyd head.  Thanks's VW.
So the AAZ 1-3 notch is the same thickness as the fibre
1-3 notch.  My last unanswered question is the tightning routine
for the AAZ metal gasket, is it the same as the procedure in the
A1 bentley for 12mm bolts?  I assume the gasket will come with
recommendations, do I trust Elring or VW?
