Too much advance on Ip Timing

Hello folks, i would like to tell my experience as it can be useful for others. Golf 95 1.9td with ac. 366000kms. I had black smoke and i was burning oil and coolant (1 litre per 300 km). I changed the head gasket and t-belt and oil and coolant finally get solve. Other problem,: persistant black smoke on acceleration. So i suspected many things and the only way to solve it was to hook the waste gate open on my t3 kkk turbo. Result: no power over 2800 rpm, clicking sound from injectors, white smoke and poor mileage. I was about to rebuilt my Ip, and redo the whole head gasket job. I was a bit too far... Today, i've decided to talk to an injection specialist for diesel trucks and told me that the main problem was the timing being too much forward and probably 1 or 2 worn injectors. This is to say that diesels needs special care with the injection and timing and there is no need to search too deep for a problem that can be easily solve.
I am finally gonna get this pump timed tomorrow and injectors rebuilt and hope it will solve the problem. I really hope!
I would like to thank everyone who helped me in this engine rebuilt and tell you i will write back with the timing done and the results.

I finally get my pump timed. That was a pain in the a##ss. It was all stuck in some rust... The guy told me it was at about +200 and it is supposed to be set at 0.80 or 0.87 at tdc. Anyway, as this was my second engine rebuilt for a 1.9td, i assume that any problem following a good rebuiding job should be diagnose as a timing problem. A lot of people helped me on this forum and before i thought that the timing of my pump could be an issue, i was about to rebuilt my pump, somebody told me it could vbe my internat governor. I think that when you are experiencing some smoke (black or white), poor mileage, knocking from engine around 2800 rpm, lost of power at high rev, checking the internal timing of the Ip is a cheap way to solve the whole problem because rebuilding an Ip, changing the injectors, boosting the pump will do nithing and will be very expensive. I also think that putting the Ip on stock specs is the best way to have an effecient car (cold starting and pollution). If your car have a starting problem, after diagnising the glow plug, the timing should be the second thing to check. My timing was soo off that when i was engaging any gear, it was like if i didn't know how to shift, the car was really stopping like if i was a non-experienced driver.
Now, my car sounds like if the engine was rubber made. Sounds even better than a TDI (lol) I get the 6 l/100km i am use to have with my other td and i can't wait to go for a long trip!!
I hope this tread will be helpfull for others that try to make it more complicated than it should be.

Well said. I am kind of surprised that retarding your timing helped though, unless it was over 1.00mm

Maybe it's just one of those days but I don't understand what +200 means.

Thx guys for your replies. Sorry for my english for the two first post. I am not always writing what i am thinking! I don't know nothing about timing a pump as you saw(+ 200 was a hyperbole, i don't know the numbers) I only guest it was too far forward. As in any problem resolution, i am always digging too far to find a problem that is right there and not focusing on good things.
With all your help, the problem is solve now. Still a loud sound from the power steering motor being old...

2.00mm! It must have sounded like a hailstorm of hammers on a tin shed! My ears hurt just thinking about it!

I have my N/a timed to 0.040" or 1.02mm. Runs great, a little hailstormish, but great power.
