WTB: Garret T3 TA0304 Turbo
« on: November 04, 2009, 09:21:58 am »
I am attempting my first rebuild of a turbo. I have the turbo apart, and everything looks pretty good. The engine is an 86 1.6L TD out of a Jetta. I am looking for another turbo in case things don't go so well with the rebuild :(

Gee-Bee,

Do you know if the K14 will replace the T3 directly?  If not what has to be done to replace the T3 that I have on my 1.9 TD AAZ with a K14??

Oil drains are different, other then that it should be the same going from a T3 to a K14

I have a T3 but it needs to be rebuilt...

Does anyone know if I can replace the wastegate on the T3?. It's an internal one. I don't know if it is bad or not yet, but if it ends up being bad are there any options?

I have a turbo off an 84 Jetta. It says air research on it, not Garret. What kind of turbo is that?  ???

yeah I just looked at it, it doesn't say anything on it actually. I think it is a T3. It's in good shape no shaft play or damage to the fans. It does have one stud broken off on the outlet side. If anyone wants it I'll take 125.00 plus a USPS flat rate box. Comes with the return line.
