Hey everyone, ive just put my 1600td JX engine back together. Replaced the head, Re-ringed the pistons and put new shells in. also put in brand new oil pump.
She run really well...But
After about 5 mins of driving the oil light starts to flash.
What could this be?
Hope someone can help
Tony

It's likely flashing because your oil pressure is quite low when cold and gets even lower as the oil heats up and thins out.... I'd recommend you not drive it with the light on until you get an oil pressure gauge in place to find out what's going on.
Additional troubleshooting info here:

Just out of curiosity what kind of oil are you using and did you check the clearance on your bearings with plastigauge

Using Fuchs 15-40.
Got standard shells from main dealer, didn't use the plastigauge to check.

Just a thought here, but does your vehicle have the dynamic oil pressure system? It might be that the relay for it is intermitantly fritzing out

As per the troubleshooting link previously mentioned.

Ok all the sensors are in order, definitely getting oil pressure to the sensor in the oil filter housing.
Got the van warm untill the flashing oil light comes on. Took the rocker cover off and fired it up to see whats going on there.
oil is pissing out the side of one of the camshaft bearings. should it be doing this?

Depends on what you mean by "pissing".
Oil should be leaking out the sides of the cam bearings... that's how they are lubricated.
What oil pressures did you measure at the head and the filter with the engine hot? Do you just have a flashing light or a buzzer as well? Over 2000 RPM or under?

Haha by pissing i mean like sprinkling out...hmm like a catherine wheel suppose, this is only on one of them. Should they all do this?
Its just a flashing light. I have no gauge as yet. I did have a autogauge oil pressure gauge attached to the head but I could get hardly anything out of it cold or hot. I wasnt sure if it was working correctly.

The lights telling you you have no oil pressure, and so is your gauge. Highly recommend you don't drive it until you get it sorted.
