I was reading inthe venders section and came across a post made by Giles... He listed the stock injectors as DNOSD293 for TD and DNOSD274 as GTD? I thought the GTD nozzles were considered the higher performance nozzles... They are smaller? I'm just trying to find out for sure if that is the stock size, as I have access to them at work and would love to install them in my D24T. The us spec D24Ts had a 193 injector tip. The 293 was only found on the D24Tic in Europe...
Thanks for any help.

The last three digits of the Bosh part number aren't particularly related to size... so it's hard to tell which is "bigger". A definite part number cross-reference is a bit of a holy grail in these parts.
Generally on an IDI the nozzle size not actually a performance limiter... at least until most every other performance issue has been addressed... exhaust, injector pump mods, etc. Stock injectors, whatever part number, are generally seen to be good for several hundred horsepower.
Now on a TDI nozzle size *is* a handy upgrade.
Interesting, thanks for the links... I had been told the last numbers were related to the tip size. Ok then, what is a good upgrade for more fuel flow potential?

dude, the injectors are gonna be fine no matter what you run. you can get probably right around 300 horses out of the stock injectors if you could keep the head bolted down.
Can I change the question a little then? If I'm just going to replace the injectors, would you use the 84 back injectors or 85 up. The Importer we buy from at work lists two different part numbers for the rebuilt injectors for those years. I'm guessing the 85 and newer injectors would have the newer revised tip? If the numbers just increased as they made different changes or improvements, I'm thinking the 85 up injectors would be the way to go. They are Bosch reman, but there is no listing with them that lists the p.n. of the nozzle itself.

See below, particularly Mark the miser's post for what the injector no's mean;

Also here is a list of bosch part no's including nozzle codes, tobera is a nozzle;

Great link Anto. Not seen the numbers linked to the vehicles before except for a few Japanese cars.
The link to me contains a slight ambiguity. The 'S' tells us according to Bosch that it's the 17mm nozzle holder. I'm sure I've seen references to the 6mm pintle needle that it contains... Same difference really
For those that have eyes watering at all the pages in non English, scroll down to page 102ish for the nozzles
Mark - can you take a look at my "injector no's" thread again as i added another question after you added your post on what the no's stood for.
