Gas to Diesel tach question
« on: August 29, 2009, 05:13:05 pm »
Anyone know which wires to hook up the tach in a 1995 Vw cabrio? I put in a 1.6 TD from an 84 rabbit and have the W terminal on the alt. did it get its signal from the distributor on the gasser? if so there was 3 wires going to the distributor.
Also having trouble with the spedo. Plugged the sensor from the 020 tranny and no speed indicated. Why did they go away from cables??? Any help greatly appreciated. I hate wires.

There's an excellent document online with pinouts for CE2 cluster. I don't have the URL but if you search "central electric 2" and "central electric 2 cluster" I think you will find it. It's lists all the pinouts on the cluster and fuse block and with that info you can figure things out.

I am putting a gasser CE2 cluster (with tach) from some 85-92 Jetta or Golf that I picked up for $5 locally into my 92 Ecodiesel. I still have some more work to do to finish the project, hopefully in the next few weeks.

I just looked at my hard copy of the CE2 cluster doc and the tach signal is on T28/10. that means pin 10 of the 28 pin connector on the cluster. You also need ground which is T28/3.

Diesel tech will try to stop by, only 30 mins away. Got 96 Jetta parts if you need any. Junking the car and it has great sheetmetal, interior and more. Motor and tranny is out but also have 2L Gasser that runs excellent and an auto tranny cheep if needed.

Hey topless96, what ever happened to the wheels and tires that you wanted to sell cheap? Never heard back from you. Did you take some pics?
