What is this device(magnet) on my injection pump!?!?!?
« on: September 24, 2005, 11:02:22 am »
Hi guys,
I want to ask you something about the injection pump in my AAZ.
What is the purpose of the device on the front of the injection pump  .There is a cable on this device. In the service program ETKA the number of this device is 028 906 283 D.And there I saw that this device is called - magnet. It`s nothing happend when I take off the cable, even the engine is hot or cold. How this magnet works.
The service program says that this magnet is only for pumps 028 130 107R and 028 130 108A.
My brother owns Passat with AAZ engine and his injection pump has no such of this device(magnet)...
I will be greatful if someone explain me the situation.... :D
10x a lot

Do you mean cable as in wire?  You're probably talking about the timing advance solenoid (electromagnet) which advances the pump timing when the engine reaches a certain RPM.
