might sound stupid but......
« on: August 17, 2009, 10:35:51 am »
I have a late model 1.9 aaz for a project of mine. It looks like I will have nothing that will run off of vaccum. This is my first VW diesel so I'm still a noob at these.

There is just one vaccum acuator on the IP pump that pulls a lever by cable (very short movment) that I didn't find what it does yet.  Other than that my brakes will be manual, and I'll have no climate controls.

So What would be the best thing to do wiith the vaccum pump?

Thanks,
Trevor

The vacuum actuator on the IP is probably for cruise control.

I'm guessing you have the canister style vacuum pump? There are vacuum pump delete gears and covers, but they're quite rare. You need something in there to turn the oil pump shaft.

Thanks!

After reading about the vaccum pump delete, got me thinking. My Friend has a 1.9 IDI NA that was used on a rig trailer for a pump. He's putting it into a Toyota Pickup. I'll have to see if he has a vaccum pump on it or not, I know that he will need one.

I'll post pics of that lever in the mornning. If I don't need it I'd like to remove it. I have some questions on the pump also anyway.
