Found the leak now can't get to it...
« on: July 11, 2009, 11:05:18 pm »

Has anyone seen this setup but with a security head instead of a nut and a washer?  Mine has a goofy thing I can't get off, its completely round, with two notches out of it.  Kind of makes replacing the seal difficult.  I will try and get a picture but anyone with experience with how to get it off please let me know!

I use a punch and a hammer. IIRC it's backward threads.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Sounds like it's supposed to use the same kind of tool as a front strut mount. Wouldn't happen to be the same size would it?

You're asking for trouble if you plan to remove that shaft without taking the lid off the pump.

I know it holds things in place inside the pump, just need to replace the o-ring.  By the way both of the threads with the safety lock are reverse.
