It also reads like every other hype story of a miracle technology that somehow got "shelved" and "forgotten". 100mpg carb anyone?

If it were so simple it would have been done by now. If Chrysler did it back in the 80's then high-end companies (you know, the ones not on the brink of dying every decade) have done similar research. Mercedes had a production direct injection gas engine and fuel injected engines in the 1950's!

hmmm all they needed was the same NOx filter as the new clean diesels!!!

Wow, kinda interesting.  Amazing in fact, that they would put such an interesting engine in such a stupid car.  :P
