T3 problems
« on: June 08, 2009, 07:17:03 pm »
I need to clock the exhaust side of a T3 so I can mount it on a TDI engine. I tried to remove the bolts on the exhaust side and broke most of them. Now I can not get it apart. I've used PB Blaster and beat on it in a vise but afraid I'll break the casing. How can I get it to turn or come apart?
Thanks

Thanks I'll try that. Same method for removing broken studs?

but certainly heating it extensively and shocking it with penetrating oil can do wonders.

Indeed.  At work, when faced with a broken bolt or stud we would always try welding first.  Even if it didn't work well enough to spin the bolt out, it usually anneals the material.  This makes it miles easier to drill out, if it comes to that.
