Ive had a 1.6 turbo longblock built, its a turbo core mid 80's.Im going to put in my 81 rabbit truck,I need intake manifold and turbo.Alot on ebay but not sure what will fit??Like to run little more boost than 80's stock. Can someone point me in direction??Yes going to put an intercooler on it.Thanks
If you don't want to fabricate anything then stock would be you best bet. If you're a fabricater there are several options. Exhaust manifolds from all 1.5/1.6 and TDIs bolt up, I don't know about the pump duezy ones.
Intake manifolds from the 1.5/1.6/1.9 IDI ONLY will fit. TDI intakes have the wrong shape of ports. Also make sure the manifolds don't interfere with each other. Lots of turbos will go on, just get one that fits your exhaust mani, then you'll have to rig oil feed and drain lines.
EGT and boost gauges wouldn't be a bad idea either. Hopefully somebody else will pipe up and gives you more ideas.
The 1.9 IDI intake manifold has D shaped ports, your engine has 0 shaped ports. It will work but is not ideal.
Check my for sale thread, I have a lot of everything that you would need.
if you get a turbo where you can run a full sized intake, be sure to get a manifold off a gas car to put on your diesel. it makes such a big torque improvement. and gets rid of the #2 & #3 pressure bias. and you can get more boost than stock with completely stock pieces. i know people on here that make over 30 psi with a stock t3. but then theres people like me on here, with VNT's that build 30 psi REALLY REALLY FAST...
I should have said in my post thats not my ad.
650 bucks isnt bad at all. considering that stuff isnt prothe crap..
