Bryson,
Were these balanced with the old bushings/ bearings still in or out? Did you do the balance? If so, could you discribe the jig you used?
BTW-Free bumpski and thanks for the info on the mani's. I am working with him on getting some.
Jim
The small end bushings were found still in dimensional specs and left alone.
Balancing isn't typically done with babbit bearings installed, and they weren't in this case. To achieve balance perfection, you can weigh the bearings you buy for these, mix and match, and remove material to make equal weight sets before installing.
I did the balancing, using an apparatus similar to this:
Thats interesting. Are you measuring the turning moment around the wrist pin, not the mass. Would a more accurate measurement be equal mass and same center of gravity?
Guy
it is mass and center of gravity. the rod's ends are supported by roller bearings.
this is how they do it, from local shop to NHRA.
very interesting... how much would you charge to balance some rods, or is it too time consuming and not worth it?
Just balancing, $15 each.
Just balancing, $15 each.
hmmm i might consider that when installing the girdle

thanks
How about $100 US no core? Or would you like the 1.6TD rods back?
