Few minor Pump/Boost issues! (AAZ)

Have tinkled with an AAZ before and have read loads n loads n then some more on the forum. Have a couple of Qs though!
Am running a standard AAZ.All i have done so far is block off the EGR and ditch all the lines/crap attached to it and fit a GTD boost pin.
Today i broke off the max fuel collar and turned up the fuelling a bit. That was no problem, however..............
Engine now revved at 1200rpm , went to side of pump to turn down idle and have had a few problems. I do not have a cold start lever but a solenoid type thing instead that has a 2 or 3" piece of wire coming out of it to a cam plate. This in turn has 2 'stops' i can adjust. When i adjusted one 'out' the revs did drop. However, when i took the car for a drive it will sometimes drop to 950rpm and sometimes stay at 13 or 1400 rpm?!?!?!? Nothing is loose/moved etc .
Having thought about it tonite i think i might have buggered up the cold start advance crap and should have lowered the idle with the only other screw available - the throttle lever 'stop' screw. Any ideas?
Secondly i bought a boost gauge , have fitted it properly but so far havnt seen it move.(including going up hill flat out in 3rd to see some boost).Plugged it into the vacum side (used a line i blanked off that was connected to the EGR crap) and it did register vacum. Can one presume it is fubared? Car runs pretty good.Although i have never driven an AAZ powered saloon (mine was in a T3) i think i would be able to guess if the waste gate was stuck open.Ideas?
Lastly i have bought a Golf 3 tdi intercooler set up.Anyone got install pics as i just have a box of bits.I can suss out pipe order from ETOS/vagcat and have a stab at fitting bracket- but pics would be nicerer!

theres a max speed limiter adjuster screw, and on the other side of the pump, theres an idle, or low speed adjuster screw. its between the LDA and the #1 and #2 injector lines.

he has an idle screw on that pump. i studied it looking for it, then found it. and it definitely has a max speed screw, and an idle screw. how is it possible to not have an idle adjustment? that just doesnt make good sense. how the heck do you adjust the idle if you mess with the fuel screw? cause my idle went WAY up when i turned up the fuel. i dont see how there could not be an idle adjuster screw, cause Rixys pump has 2 different adjusters for the throttle.

Hi Kev , thanks for your input! I *think* we are kinda saying the same thing but thinking differently
Am i right in saying it dosnt have an idle adjustment screw like the AAZ pumps in the 'make your 1.9 faster' FAQ(i cant bloody see one for looking!) but you use what i have called (maybe wrongly) the throttle arm stop screw in my first post ?
If i put the Cold start back to what it was and stop messing with it and wind stop screw out you reckon im back in business ?
cheers chap

there should be a throttle arm stop screw for no throttle (idle adjustment) and there should be a throttle arm stop screw for full throttle (high speed adjustment) i wouldnt mess with the electric advance, unless someone chimes in and proves me wrong, but im just going with my experiences with other pumps. although i have never laid hands on on a pump exactly like yours, there should be 2 adjuster screws with jamb nuts on them.

if you look at the pics , there are two horizontal screws. In the first pic you can clearly see it- i guess this stops the throttle arm opening too far. On the opposite side you can just about see the other horizontal screw (pic 2).
Just screw this in so throttle 'shuts' further to lower revs?
(same as you would do on a eurovan pump that dosnt have the 'proper' idle screw like in the FAQ pics of the aaz pump?)

ive never torn into a eurovan, and probably never will, but yea, those 2 horizontal screws. there about 2 inches long, thread through 2 bosses on the pump. and limit the throttle travel. it looks like your idle adjuster screw might be on the advance side, not on the engine side.

righto , set the electric cold start gubbins back to how it was. why i didnt use my loaf and realise what it was before i fiddled with it.................
wound back the threaded throttle stop and as soon as i started winding it out , it stopped touching the arm ?!?!?! (so cant lower idle using it)
so , any new ideas how to lower my idle now ? (besides fitting a different pump)
is it worth seeing if i can rotate arm on spindle a notch or so?

NO! DO NOT take the arm off and move it. they have to be exactly where they are, otherwise you dont get any throttle, only reason i know about this is because ive done it, engine just sat there and idled.. pissed me off bad.

turn the fuel screw down a touch - sounds like it's hanging up a bit.
add the extra fuel when it's needed with the boost i.e. LDA boost pin
