hello

just passed at a friends house todayand talk about 1.9 swap and then...he said"score a D head as it have larger valves on it!"
how he knows?he had a 1.9D seat ibiza that damaged the head and when he pulled it he compared it with a aaz head and the valves were 2/3mm larger...

as anyone checked this?

also,does anyone knows if a 1.6D JK mech engine block as oil squirters?
herad some gyuis talking that some D engines also received them...

etka tells me that the valves are different between aey,1y and aaz, all from Seat ibiza 1998.
now to get the diameters:

INTAKE:
SDI
AEY: 028 109 601 G - 7mm stem (sweet)
AEY: 028 109 601 J - 8mm stem

1.9NA
1Y: 028 109 601 B - 7mm stem (sweet)
1Y: 069 109 601 F - 8mm stem

1.9TD
AAZ: 069 109 601 H - 7mm stem (sweet)
AAZ: 028 109 601 C - 8mm stem

Does it have a spec for an ADG industrial ? I know it's basically a 1Y but it be good to know if it's any different. I didn't think to check while i had the head off.

I would imagine the valves would be bigger to get a bit of flow/power due to the lack of blower.

the 1.9D's seem a good engine for a cheap smoker with a turbo and TD pump, Would this work? use a 1.6TD/GTD sump i imagine for the oil return!

I might do this for a budget IDI project!

You can run a 1.9 head on a 1.6 block for better flow, lower compression and higher boost. Thats what I am in the process of building. Now all I need is for you to sell me on the cheap that long runner sdi D-port intake you have for sale on tdiclub so I can hook a mechanically controlled gt1749vb to it :twisted:

I've got a beauty GT18v which would definatly go better than a 17 all day :wink:

I'd go for a VNT but Im inpatient and dont like trial and error with making the linkage work but i'd like to see your method.

How do the 1.6 bottom ends and 1.9d heads fit?

A 1.9 aaz head will directly bolt onto a 1.6 hydraulic TD block with out modification needed. You can "improve" the 1.6 block by drilling the steam passage holes that are present on the aaz head but not on the 1.6 block. A metal 1.9td head gasket is then used. You now have a head that offers better flow. It has the D-shaped intake ports. Compression has been lowered allowing for additional boost. It is a win win situation. You can choose to run either the standard 1.6td injectors or the 1.9td dual stage injectors, depending on what set of injection lines you have on hand. With the correct additional modifications, you should be able to run 150hp no problem. If you are serious, you are looking into the 200hp range. It's all old school diesel hot rodding, fuel- boost-intakes and exhausts.

There are a few members on this forum who have been running mechanically actuated vnt turbo's for a while. There are some very good write-ups on the process.

I see that you get your hands on some nice items over there. I would gather to say that you will have better luck with selling items over on this forum as opposed to the tdiclub. The guys over there sure seem to have lots of money, but some appear to be more interested in chip tuning and having others work on thier cars. On this forum, you have more members who are driving older cars, working on older engines, and turning wrenches themselves. Power on this forum is made with mechanical improvements.

I am currently interested in the intake manifold design. turboj is currently building a fantastic 1.6/1.9 engine with a nifty dual plenum intake manifold. Balancing the intake charge is key to keeping the 1.6 together when you start to get into heavy boost and power. His is off a 1.9na 1Y. I would like to talk with turboj and aki-something about the manifolds they are building. The long runner sdi looks very similar to the one he is using. What is it off of?

It would be very interesting if there were larger valves available for the 1.9td head. You might be able to swap in the intake valve which would really help, but I do not know if a non-turbo exhaust valve would hold up in a high performance turbo application.

1,9 intake valve is 2mm larger than 1,6 intake valve. Exhaust valves are same. Dimensions can be found from Mahle catalog.
No oil squirters in 1,6 na.

1,9td and na has same size valves as you can find from Mahle catalog too. Block is same, both have squirters.

so a 1.9d would be a good base for a TD? saves looking for an old aaz i suppose!
