What do you guys know about Carbs?

Don't limit it to the 67.   Any of those Chrysler products with 6-packs, dual 4's, or cross-ram intakes are sweet.  Plus with that kind of power it doesn't matter if you're fat, you can still take the guy in the lane beside you.

I went out for a run today with a few people (Brother, Mom, and Ex-Step dad Peter.. long story lol) On what I like to call it's Maiden voyage.

If anyone is looking to get an ATV do not get a Polaris.. ever.. it will give you nothing but the biggest PITA.

This is probably one of the few runs where all three of our Polaris's went out and came back with nothing wrong with them. That being said.. mine hasn't been too too bad. the worst that happened was a belt snapped.. and that was cause it was long over due on the change. But my mom's and Peter's have had bearing issues galore, front and rear hub issues trans issues.. it never stops.

HOWEVER! It did not display the problem at all today.. None what so ever. It was absolutely beautiful. The only thing that went wrong with our 4 hour ride was my cherry bomb fell off right near the end, because i got MAD air and knocked it loose. And even running straight pipe the power of the machine was still there, and it didn't have any different feeling, other than being loud as all hell. Which brings me back to the Re-jetting issue, if you guys thought it was a re-jet issue than why was the problem not apparent today? and even more so after the exhaust was straight pipe? I don't know what its problem is.. :P Doesn't really seem like a problem really... lol

With that kind of power you could have your car loaded with people and pass a civic like it was standing still :P I love muscle cars, for there shear brute force of power. Like they say there is no replacement for displacement. lol Sadly a 6-pack or dual quads dump in something like what 10,000L/min of gas... lmao and at that rate, and the amount of WOT you'd most definitely be doing.. you would be lucky to get like 10mpg

I went on the Hot Rod Power Tour(a cross country car show where all the cars drive from stop to stop) in 2001, and most of the muscle cars there were getting in the range of 2-3MPG, lots of stopping at gas stations.

No way!!  Drop the hammer on 600 ponies and the smile will never leave your face.  The SOUND!!! 6-pack gas sucking, tire burning, 400-500 cubic inch engine redlining, slam shifting, frame twisting, head snapping coolness!!  The sound scares women and makes children cry

Carbs or carbohydrates (from 'hydrates of carbon') or saccharides (Greek σάκχαρον, sákcharon, meaning "sugar") are the most abundant of the four major classes of biomolecules. They fill numerous roles in living things, such as the storage and transport of energy (eg: starch, glycogen) and structural components (eg: cellulose in plants, chitin and cartilage in animals). Additionally, carbohydrates and their derivatives play major roles in the working process of the immune system, fertilization, pathogenesis, blood clotting, and development.[1]

Chemically, carbohydrates are simple organic compounds that are aldehydes or ketones with many hydroxyl groups added, usually one on each carbon atom that is not part of the aldehyde or ketone functional group. The basic carbohydrate units are called monosaccharides, such as glucose, galactose, and fructose. The general stoichiometric formula of an unmodified monosaccharide is (C·H2O)n, where n is any number of three or greater; however, not all carbohydrates conform to this precise stoichiometric definition (eg: uronic acids, deoxy-sugars such as fucose), nor are all chemicals that do conform to this definition automatically classified as carbohydrates.[2]

Monosaccharides can be linked together into what are called polysaccharides (or oligosaccharides) in almost limitless ways. Many carbohydrates contain one or more modified monosaccharide units that have had one or more groups replaced or removed. For example, deoxyribose, a component of DNA, is a modified version of ribose; chitin is composed of repeating units of N-acetylglucosamine, a nitrogen-containing form of glucose.

While the scientific nomenclature of carbohydrates is complex, the names of carbohydrates very often end in the suffix -ose.

But in all seriousness,

i raced an 11 second 73 nova on the 1/4 mile a couple times. I still piss my self a little when I think back to it.

I helped my buddy build his 327 (in a camaro, don't know the year. Dont care much for camaros) with a holley carb and edlebrock intake manifold. It made about 500hp (Edit: he says 500 but i think its more like 350-400 MAX). That, plus a 4 speed, was a FUN machine to drive. But i'd rather drive my 1600 CC oil burner anyday :P unless i won the lottery

Is this Polaris a twin carb machine? If it is I bet you got a plugged pilot jet. Sounds like it fixed itself though.
My snowmachine did that a few years ago and idle was bad but cruising was fine, then I did a high speed run and fried one cylinder.
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I'm gonna bet all that awesome knowledge was from memory was it not?   Oooh the 73 nova *drrrooolls* Ed, if you won the lottery you know you'd still drive the dub.. you'd just PIMP it the HELL out!! lol I would do the same.. and I'd use the money to find a turbo engine and get rid of the N/a... Or make a go-kart out of it! :P Seriously i had an insane idea.. if i only had a welder and kept the strut assemblies and steering knuckles from the golf i got the engine from... You could SOO totally make a wicked awesome go-kart of it.. LMAO Tube framed!

if i won the lottery... i'd build a titanium cummins engine with about 200 psi boost, tons of low end torque... i'd shoot for at least 2000 ft/lbs, and then build an insane gearbox to handle the torque and make it super tall geared... all in a nice big truck

and i'd also like to have a diesel car as well.   i'd try a 16 valve mTDI if its possible...

I know enough about Carbs to know they are the work of the Devil and should be exorcised from any poor blighted car that ever passes into my possession with such an affliction.

And they make you fat. :D

The one exception of course would be a 1967 Dodge Charger fastback with a 440 6-pack or cross ram dual quads

You'd still make much more power if you were fuel injected. ;)
