Eco diesel pump ??? Or a TD w/o the LDA ?
« on: March 13, 2009, 05:44:54 am »
Here is one of the consolation parts I came back from my 16 hour odyssey with. I noticed before I picked it up that the LDA looked missing and the screws for it were gone, but the blocking plate where it would be looks like its been there from the beginning (dirt).

Also, why are there 2 leavers for the throttle?

So, what is this and can an LDA be installed economically ?

It looks like 460 294  323 is on the side.

That's certainly looks to me like the AAZ version of the Eco pump, found on early Canadian Passats, among others.

* 8mm plunger rather than the usual 9mm
* LDA is completely gone... there are no guts under the flat cap, and some machining is missing.  Would need to put an entire AAZ LDA lid on to retrofit.
* fast-idle (the second throttle lever I believe you're referring to) is vacuum controlled using a vacuum pot that seems to have been stripped from the pump you have.  Fully configured it looks like this:

Vacuum applied to the black pot on the upper left of the picture actuates the fast idle lever.

HTH.

I think I can make out a 9 in the bosch number, which would mean that it's a 9mm plunger.

If you are talking about the "2" throttle levers on the front of the pump, one below the other in the picture above then it's just a relief feature that prevents you from damaging the pump. It basically allows you to pull the throttle past the max fuel stop. If you pull on the levers you'll get it.

You got's younger eyes than me... could be right.

If by "second throttle lever" we're talking about the front... perhaps it's the lever that generally has a pneumatic damper attached?
