Anyone on here do one yet?
I have a line on a g60 that had an engine fire, and I just so happen to have a 1.9TD freshly tuned up that would look great under the bonnet.  Anyone done this yet?

  im not sure that the gearing would work for it. I have never seen one done though. Although the G60 is a rare car that could be why.

stick a TDI transmission under the hood with that 1.9TD and you'll be happy.  the gearing will give you good economy, and make the engine perform closer to its torque range which will give very good performance.

There is one guy in the states that put a tdi into a corrado, he actually has done two swaps like that. You could google that....and there was a guy that just posted a 1.9TD corrado with an engine fire, his GP harness caught on fire. It is definatly doable.

yea everything just bolts right in apparently.  the glow plug system requires moderate electrical skills, and that is probably the hardest thing to hook up.

Nice!  I know evrything is possible I just wanted to know what problems I may run into.  Diesels are an easy swap from what I have done/seen.  That was half the reason I want to go that route.  I plan on using a cable shift tranny and my k-frame/a arms from my mk2. Wiring is pretty simple, it was easy putting a td in my buddies 91 jetta that was originally gas so this should be pretty similar.  I will post up again next week when I get the G60 out and see what kind of a mess the fire made.  Thanks guys.

Sounds like a cool project, and it would definitely have it's advantages over the 2 stock corrado engines.

More reliable than the G60 engine.
MUCH more fuel efficient than a VR6
and ALOT cheaper/easier to repair than both.

You can do anything you want if you put enough time and skills into it. I've been putting a 1.6 NA into a 92' Dodge Caravan, upgrading to turbo, with a Chevy alternator since last summer. Almost ready for first start.

The mounting points for both engines the TD and the g60 are the same. If you use a passat td or a tdi tranny (o2a) it will work. I would check out someone's build thread first just to see what is involved.

Dale, I know Dan is doing a TDI but I am not quite into that realm of diesel yet.  I am going to stay mechanical for now, I just wanted to see some Rado diesel threads!  I have no intentions of going with a G60 or VR6 as it will be my main vehicle for the summer months.

Justin, thanks for the info.  I am going to try and track him down to see what he thinks of the swap.

Thanks to everyone else for the kind words and as soon as I get this thing stripped you will be the first to see that another VW will be burning dinosaur bones!!
