This inline three cylinder Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) diesel engine is the powerplant of the Volkswagen Lupo 3L and Audi A2 3L, with a low consumption of only three litres per hundred kilometers (94 mpg/78 US mpg).
10cyl 350hp TDI-powered Phaeton, anyone? Seems like quite a gaffe to release that car to support the VW brand rather than Audi, based on the price point.QuoteThis inline three cylinder Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) diesel engine is the powerplant of the Volkswagen Lupo 3L and Audi A2 3L, with a low consumption of only three litres per hundred kilometers (94 mpg/78 US mpg). It's really funny how little credit conventional diesel engines get for being efficient here in the US. I'd rather spew diesel exhaust into the air than dump Lion hybrid batteries into rivers at 1/10th the cost any day.
