10cyl 350hp TDI-powered Phaeton, anyone? Seems like quite a gaffe to release that car to support the VW brand rather than Audi, based on the price point.

It's really funny how little credit conventional diesel engines get for being efficient here in the US. I'd rather spew diesel exhaust into the air than dump Lion hybrid batteries into rivers at 1/10th the cost any day.

yea its amazing how people can be 'brainwashed'. just look at beta vs VHS. even though beta was the better platform, VHS won by having the better marketing.

what i love better, is the fuel cell powered car. it's being hyped up so much, but it is such a truly horrible way of powering a vehicle. it still requires hydrogen AND oxygen being stored in the car (safer than gasoline? HELL NO!) and still, if you were to burn both of those 'fuels' in the otto cycle engine, it would be more efficient than converting them to electricity using the fuel cell, and powering an electric motor from that.

i really think that Americans should try to get a hold of Obama and get him to allow the importation of these vehicles into the US. then Canada will follow, because our government is run by morons, and will follow the US :lol:. THEN, the big three will start selling their diesel vehicles that they already sell abroad over here. WOW!

that three cyl tdi gets less than 4l/100km ... :shock:
apparently diesels are environmentally-un-friendly. Is it because they burn 1/4 the fuel?

My friend's parents have a Lincoln Navigator that he hypes up all the time and wants to buy off them. I just don't get it :roll: 13.1 average mpg is what it's ecu reckons. That's pretty dismal by any standard. He argued that it was better than my jetta because you can carry and extra three people - but he also added that the mileage goes down significantly when you add people into it...

be able to use a hoola-hoop in the back seat vs. driving 400% further... tough decision

I wouldn't be so baffled and confused if my friend was 50 not 20!
