Modding my IDI
« on: July 23, 2005, 01:34:04 pm »
Well I have been on the forums quite a while, but never really post, usually just read. A while back I had broke the end of my cam, and almost sold the car but had no real interest. So I convinced my parents to let me take out a considerable amount of money to "fix" my car. The car is a 91 Ecodiesel (installed a rebuilt TD pump with the LDA) has roughly 145,000 on it, haven't pulled the head yet, but did have a compression test done and everything was good. Getting to my point, I basically would like to mod my car as much as possible to get that extra amount of power. Here is what I have recently purchased:

-Rebuilt head
-OEM head gasket
-Raceware Head studs
-timing belt, tensioner
-Custom 2 1'2" exhaust (straight pipe)
-Boost gauge, EGT gauge, Voltmeter gauge, Oil pressure, Water pressure
-Oil cooler
-Front Mount Intercooler (30" wide x5" tall x3.5" deep)
-10" brake kit

Now I plan on making myself a custom CIA, would like to have my pump tuned by giles and possibly looking into propane or Nitrous Injection.
I have searched both this site and the old one, but have come up with nothing. I would like to know if anyone has ever actually done it on a TD or know someone who has? I am seriously considering it if I could find a DIY writeup or if anyone would be able to point me in the right direction. Can be contacted through email at [email protected], Ned337 on Aol or on here if anyone has some information for me. Thanks

-Nick

supposedly propane fumigation isn't so great on IDI's, but excellent on TDI's.   Look up smog's DIY pump mod if you haven't already.   It is a great resource!
