I guess you have that ESItronic program and do a lot of pump work. Would you happen to have the KDEP tool number for the tool which removes the triangular bolt on the side of the governor control?
Here's the nut I need to remove:

I know dieselgeek and prothe sell the ones for the TDI, but I'm not sure they're the same.
Thanks for the help tintin (or whomever). I'd make the tool myself, but I'd spend more on a dremel and bits than I think I would on the tool itself.
I bought one of Prothe's reseal kit a few years ago (before I knew better) and his tool is a nut that has been crudly machined to have the 3 faces.
Dremels are priceless, Andrew's suggestion is best.
Bosch tools are stupid expensive, like stupid.
I have one of those but to be honest the one I made as mentioned above from a 12 point socket fits better and is easier to use.
I didn't start this post to be a battleground for competing vendors (or, more appropriately, vendors and non-vendors).
If anyone has a lead on the KDEP Part number, I'd appreciate it.
Are you saying my tool didn't work? I don't recall any complaints for the older tool
Your tool worked fine. The pump had already been apart though so those bolts were fairly loose. It was a very loose fit, and I am doubtful that it would have worked if the bolts were locked in place, like many are after 20 years. I can't say for sure though as I did not use it in this situation. This was before I worked for Giles.
Regarding the KDEP #, I'll see if I can get it, and if we can get the tool for you and how much
No-one huh?
Anyone know what type Dremel bit would I need to carve out a socket to work on this?
6 point socket works great! Can't remember the size of it though. Should be hard to figure out.
