• Looking at motor mounts, specifically the passenger side mount, maybe some insight here. I've done a bit of searching, but here's what seems to
  be my options:
  
  The standard "HD" mount, but looks less beefy than the original: (wont show up inline - click through)

  Roughly $21 from GAP
  
  Westar mount, looks similar, maybe a bit beefier but much more $$??
  
  But this is $81 from thepartsbin
  
  Hard to see this one, Meyle

  Another Meyle, maybe the same as above - can't tell from above photo
  
  $10 from busdepot
  
  Then there is this set from Black Forest that looks promising: (click through)

  Which is $50 for the set

  Then there's Techtonics Tunings HD mount:

  Saw some mentions of using a Passat mount, but couldn't find that specifically anywhere.

• I like that bottom one but I wonder what it would do as to vibrations.
  
  In any case economics play a role for me so I would probably pick the $10 from busdepot.

  I kinda like the hamburg technic mount, nice and cheap.

• I always use the Techtonics HD mount. It was the factory unit for turbodiesel with airconditioning. I haven't experienced significant vibration increase. Don't use poly mounts!

• I've used the Meyles without issue for the past few years. I don't think they'll last as long as the others. So far, I've got about 3 years on them without issue.
  
  Most people here swear by the Techtonics HD mounts. You could also try the Scirocco 16V mounts, but they're pretty pricey.
  
  Either way, have fun installing that! It's a *** of a job.

• Well I have a TD with AC, so I guess the TT mount is the way to go.

• what about the new BFI ones?
  
  they would surely transmit vibration more, but a much heavier duty mount, and being a two piece would be easy to install

• Just finished the job, and had to go through three mounts due to some snags with pressing them in.
  
  The first mount I used was the Techtonics HD mount. It definitely seemed like the highest quality part, and has VW part numbers stamped in it. It is the original design that VW used on this motor (TD w/ AC). It pressed in nice and smoothly, no problems. However it got pressed in upside down by the shop I took it to, and subsequently got destroyed trying to turn it or press it back out. In a bind, I swung by the local parts place and got the Meyle unit like this:
  
  
  
  Now the first thing I noticed between the two was that the Meyle unit was competely solid rubber, where the TT mount has air gaps on either side. I could move the center of the TT mount barely by hand; not so on the Meyle. I did a little searching on VWVortex and saw some complaints that due to this, some people saw rubber seperation. Anyway this mount did not press in nicely at all, it was hard to get it started in, and got screwed up halfway through and ended up destroyed.
  
  Final try was back to the TT style mount, actually found locally through Worldpac as the OEM VW part for a bit less to me than shipped via Techtonics. The second unit also pressed in nicely, and is now in the car.
  
  There is a big difference in price between the TT/VW and the Meyle, but I think there is also a big difference in quality. I would recommend sticking with the TT mount based on this experience.

• Ever look at the difference between the 16v and the diesel mounts, side by side. The 16v mount is offset to one side more than the other compared to the diesel mounts. Now I don't remember any differences on the body where they mount, vs 16v or 8v. But there is a difference.

• the second from the top on the OP seems more off center than the rest. does the side motor mount allow for a little variance in the positioning of the alignment or do they need to be pressed in a certain way? i claim ignorance on this one since i dont see a directional arrow on the mount
