Hood latch in the core support
« on: November 24, 2008, 02:56:07 pm »
My hood latch is busted so the cable no longer works. the hood will not go down to the locked postion, but will lock in the safety postion (partial up but still closed). I am guessing there is some sort of spring in there, but dont know what happened to it. Is there a replacment spring or an entire unit? if so, where to get one for a reasonable price?

also, where do you buy the replacment handle? everyone sells the cable, but no one sells the handle.

I think your best bet would be the junk yard.

Failing that, www.altrom.com sells the handle.

I used a handle off a MK2 Jetta for my Rabbit,... cut some of the end off and used the cable too.

Maybe your latch just needs a spring, they rust out and fall off... I don't have a picture of one handy,... but it should be available at the hardware store.
