Boost controller questions
« on: November 19, 2008, 04:12:11 pm »
Just about there with my build and I have a few questions:
1) What boost controller are you guys using on a K14 - AAZ?
2) do you just cut the metal line going to the wastegate?
3) with a boost controller, do you still have to adjust the wastegate on a K14 to get 18 psi?
4) what timing are you running with a Giles pump? - I set to 1mm, but should it be less?

Just want to make sure I do this right, thanks for any input.

I bought a boost controller off Ebay and can't remember right now what it was called but it was pretty affordable. I simply cut the metal line and installed the boost controller inline.

After running it for a few trips I screwed the wastegate screw all the way in to effectively lock out it's actuation and now top out at 18 psi all day long - no boost controller needed. I think removing the metal line and plugging the holes will give you the same results.

basically all you need isa relief valve set to your max boost pressure.. you would also need a bleeder hole so the wastegate can return to the closed position.

google "grainger valve"
