Has someone tried these before ?

I wanted to add one to my 1.9td aaz (it has a K24 turbo), just to get some more boost at low rpm,

can it hurt my engine ?

There are kits on ebay in the USA for about 25 dollars and here in Europe they cost around 150 dollars , what the difference or is it just the price ?

Those electric super chargers always seem too good to be true.
Can they really make good CFM at decent pressure?

Most of the cheapo "electric superchargers" are scams. It takes a strong motor to produce decent boost pressure at the flow rates engines need, and strong motors draw a lot of electrical power.

These actually rob you of power most of the time.. They act as a restriction and can cause some odd turbulance (the turbulance doesn;t really affect a diesel too much though)... Like Turbine said takes a strong high RPM motor and a pretty big fan to move enough air to even equal what your engine would require without the turbo...

Just about all of these are the equivelent to the fan on your heater, some might rate up there with a leaf blower....

I'll bet if you bought one and put a balloon over the outlet it would have a hard time popping the balloon. Something cheaper than your heater blower motor is supposed to pressurize your intake?

I doubt they could inflate a balloon since the elasticity of the rubber could pressurize the air more than the fan... These things actually originated as an auxilary blower for automotive HVAC use..

i would need a battery and bracket to hold the battery
it just seems like it would be more hassle then gain?

Its not really hard to slap a turbo on a a N/A diesel. And you will get an actual increase in power.

Yeah, these are a real scam... Some guys have made real electric superchargers, but they use a remendous amoount of electic power and it has to come from some place.... Here's on that suceeded. Notice it has 3 LARGE custom built motors to power it.

Yeah, notice the small gauge wire on that cheep "blower" - what ? 12g ? So you're looking at maybe 30 amps ( 420w @ 14v). Your 1.9L engine needs just over 100 CFM at 3000 rpm. Look at the HP requirement for a 100 CFM compressor even at only 15 psi. Quite a bit more than a 420 watt motor can do for you.
