I found a 1989 Turbo Diesel Jetta this weekend it runs good. Less than 250000 miles
I'm thinking of buying and gutting the car for the day when my ABA Gasser goes bad,and using the Turbo Diesel
I have the carrier bars , oil pan etc for the van...ie. the ABA setup using a Kennedy adapter. I have an Auto Transmission that I want to keep. I don't won't modify the deck lid.
In the long run I want to make it a Greasewegen convert.
Would this Jetta Diesel work ?
Could I add a SAAB Intercooler to this set-up?
What would you pay for this car?... the body is is a 7 out of 10.
Andrew
Would a SAAB Intercooler help here?
Would the engine set-up get me down the road in a timely manner? Would it compare to the ABA? OR Wasserboxer?
I'm thinking I would get around 30 MPG ...is my thinking right?
Also I would rebuild the pump ,engine and turbo before install for a good baseline.
Would the KEP adapter plate I have right now work?
Thanks for posting.
It would for mounting. I assume you could get a TDI starter and adapter from Karl Mullendore. The WBX starter will not really be up to the task.
I have a GoWesty gear reduction starter, for an Auto would it work...or does it have enough oomph?
