« on: November 05, 2008, 07:16:18 pm »
Howdy gang,
The wires are attached to the rear wiper but no power
first off I'm not sure where the switch to turn it on is.
I get the washer to work by pushing in on the wiper switch
anybody happen to know if there is a relay (has to be one, correct)?
its "Bosch"number would be help full
thanks

those motors have a tendency to burn out... or maybe its just corrosion screwing everything up?

I think it's supposed to turn on by pulling back on the wiper switch, can't remember exactly because mine doesn't work.

It has been awhile since I had one that still works. As I recall, to start it you push downward (toward dash) with turn signal stalk to initiate movement. Then push downward again rather quickly while the rear wiper is still on motion to shut it off.....at least THAT is what I used to do in the ol' '85 Golf model.

My '86 was turned on once and put out smoke (as per JT's explanation above) and then went dormant.
The mask and the shot(s) are actually an IQ test. If you are wearing or circulating, you just failed the test. I can't feel sorry for you.

Sometimes those 22-year-old wires
get brittle and break with the opening
   and closing of the hatch.

I meant the wiper lever NOT the turn signal one.

I can make the rear wiper work by hot wiring it.

pulling back on the wiper switch arm I get the front washer to spray and push it in makes the rear washer work
still haven't found the off and on

It will be me and the Bentley vs. the rear wiper tomorrow

Just like I figured there is a missing relay
I can hot wire the rear wiper by jumping a couple of the plugs on the relay board.
Anybody have a used relay for sale ?
or even the parts number sure would be big help
still haven't found the off and on switch
thankx
