OK, minor problem if I want to know how many miles I've driven and my MPG (GPS will give me speed) - The caravan trans speedo sending unit is of a different size than the mechanical VW connection...
So, I need to get a VW cluster with mechanical drive. I have a NEW extra vac pump I'd like to trade with someone for a VW cluster - Speedo and Tach. Any one interested ?
I don't care about the year as long as it works and uses a cable that will fit a 1982 5 speed
i have one that will fit a 82 but the tach is a gasser tach!
there were no clusters in diesel that year with a tach.

My engine is a 1982.5 but the car is a Dodge Caravan !!! That's why I don't care about the year as long as the speedo drive cable will work with my 1982 trans. Someone should have a diesel cluster that would work...

i know what you have there! and i have a 82 cluster w/ tach from gasser!
there are no diesel cluster's with a tach for that year!
this one will work but you will have to modify the tach to work with a diesel W signal and add a glow plug lite if you choose too?
your cable screws on to the back of the cluster or you have a slip on style?

i'm sure i got one too! screw on would be the best! if you end up short you can add a jetta oxy censer block and add another section of speedo cable if it ends up short to your dash!

So, what kind of speed sensor is that? Doesn't have a cable?
Ya know some of the MK3s had a speed sensor with no cable. Fit right in the 020 speedo hole. I wonder how well one of those would hook up to the stock cluster. If it would work that would save you rewiring a VW cluster into it.
