P.S. Before you even THINK of drving it, be sure to test the fan motor setup. The ECO had a 3-speed fan fan setup that's a bit complex (in comparison to the all the other 1.6 diesels). Be sure to pull the plug off the fan switch, figure out which is the lad, and which are not, then bridge a hot wire from the battery to the 2 non-hot leads. The fan should come on at 2 different speeds. The 3rd speed is for the AC/Defrost when engaged. If the fan does not work, then you're in for a treat. That car uses a special fan motor that only the 1991-1992 ECOdiesel and the Corrado VR6 used. Most catalogs don't list them. You'll have to search them by part number off the motor. Either way, they ain't cheap ($300-500 new).Again, good luck boss!
follow his advice!!! seeing as how your car has a/c these fans do fail! later 2 fan units are the way to go.http://www.dieselvw.com/165959455TRadiatorFan.htm i would personally buy that if i wanted a new one.
