seen a 1.6D cam for sale, are then the same lift/duration as the TD/ GTD cams?
I doubt there will be any difference on the valve overlap!
The cams are exactly the same between block type (Hydro or mechanical).
So, any mechanical 1.6 cam is the same TD or NA
And, any hydro 1.6 cam is the same TD or NA
But you can't/shouldn't swap between hydro and mechanical
This data is basd on VWs EKTA parts catalog and part numbers. Some peope claim the mechanical and hydros are interchangeable. I've never tried it, and really don't want to push the envelope on that matter.
Thanks mate, thats a great help
bugger, its was mechanial :?
VW never specified using different material in the production of the turbocharged engine.
lets get some pics here to compare! if you want you could test fit the mechanical into the hydro, and tighten it down and see if its really stiff.
i know some body on here is running a mechanical cam in a hydro head. they are interchangable... i wish i would have known this before i bough a 1.6td hydro cam, caus ei have a couple na solid lifter cams laying around.
Glad someone knows the answer to this question, that's good info to know. Thanks
