The master cylinder on my car is kaput. I can get a 22mm one cheaper then the stock 19mm one on my car currently (91 NA Golf). If I put on the larger MC, it will make my pedal harder to push correct? But moving it will move the calipers further compared to a stock setup correct? I like a firm, stiff pedal, almost like there is no vacuum assist.
Do I have this right?
I've put a 23.81mm on my mk2, but also upgraded to the matching calipers (Passat vr6 with abs/eds) so, the feel is basically stock, the difference is that it stops REAL quick now.
You've got it right. Conversely, if you put on larger calipers and keep the stock MC you end up using a lot more pedal travel.
makes sense, so with a bigger MC and keeping the same calipers should get that hard pedal feel burn_your_money is after
You will need to shove that pedal 34% harder, theoretically.
Is there a rebuild kit avaiable for the 22mm master cyls? I have 3 but would rather rebuild them before using them.
Still sitting in my backseat. Soon....
