Not a transverse VW, no. So no to Rabbits, Jettas, and B3+ Passats.
Yes in a B2 Passat (Quantum) if the car in question was originally a 5-cylinder model.
I dunno if there were ever any 5-cylinder B1 Passats (Dashers).
BUT THAT SURE WOULD BE SWEET IN MY 79 CJ5 SNOW PLOW JEEP!
i'm not crazy about that gasser moter it came with!

Bet I'd have to pull the engine to do a timing belt change if it was in my truck. Belt in the rear, YUCK!!!

Just from the cam to the pump... really short belt! I have one for my own NA 5-can diesel.
As soon as I get my 1980 Audi 5000 with a 1983 Turbo Diesel motor running again, it will be for sale. The pistons are 3rd oversize with gapless rings, and the injector pump was just rebuilt.

1x. i know someone with a 5 cyl 2.0 TD. he has a k14 turbo and that thing is amazing... total seal rings and its even bored out a bit too

the belt is easily accessible
the problem is that the motor sticks out front quite a bit... as long as you could make room you'll be fine though.
