Dealer Problem
«

I just visited a dealer to get a couple items for my rabbit and was told that to order anything or to even purchase a part I had to give them the VIN of the car that it was for. Since the rabbit has been out of production for over twenty years he would not cross reference the part numbers. So bottom line is the dealer will not sell me any parts. Would anyone be willing to help me get a coupe of crank bolt and a couple throttle cable clamp?

Why can't you give him the VIN?

Agreed. Sounds like you have some knob who doesn't want to do any work. Ask to speak to his manager if there are no other options (hopefully he isn't the manager)

I have had problems before with the 2 dealers in my area. I have been nice about the problems, but I will never take a car to either store again. Now I will try and source my parts from other places. Would anyone care to suggest a helpful dealer?

THAT is exactly what my dealer is like, only condescending as well.
