Still leaking oil

After a new rear main, I still seem to be leaking a decent amount of oil. It never did this before the engine ran away. I don't seem to have hardly any blowby and when running with the tranny out, the flywheel seemed to be running smooth, so it didn't seem like a bent crank. Any other thoughts? this leak is starting to piss me off.

Where is it, on the back of the block? My adapter is sealed around the seal, and from what I can tell, the oil leahs out between the adapter and tranny, so it has to be coming from the rear main or there about.

If I remember right, there is a core pluggy thing covered up when the bellhosing bolts up. About six inches above the starter motor position. I used to think what a dumb place to put a coolant core plug, but apparently it's for the oil gallery.

There is also the small oil galley plug on my N/A blocks. Machine shop removed to make sure the passage will flow...........Charlie (me) got to take engine in and out 3 times before they got the right plug back in.
I eventually got $250 bucks back out of them....only because the shop foreman wanted an old dirt bike I have. For awhile there...I was so angry I could not talk!

I had a leaky o-ring around the vacuum pump,.. with the block tilted back the oil would leak down between the tin sheild and block.
Everything leaking down the front of the block into this area will come out by the bottom of the trany.

I think I will wash the crap out of the engine, drive upo something steep, park it and crawl underneath to see exactly where it is coming from, there is so much oil everywhere it may not be coming from the drain hole in the bell housing.

I'm going out on a limb here, but has the lip of the rear main seal worn the end of the crank enough to not seal it anymore.

Good thought, but the crank was totally smooth, no groove at all. I will give everything a good look over today. I really hate marking my territory, especially when in places like this.

I pulled my trans looking for a rear main leak shortly after building my motor. I saw nothing wrong so I put it back in and found the pressure gauge that I was using on the oil pressure hole on the back of the head was leaking down into the bellhousing! Duuh!

This is where mine was leaking, ended up being that tiny little seal where the release rod slides through the input shaft. That wont help jimfoo as he isn't using that trans but hey...

Hehe, there is unfortunately no such seal on my transmission, though I am working on my own solution to that design flaw. I did find a slightly loose clamp on the hose from the turbo, just to the side of the valve cover. There was some oil under it. My turbo does leak oil, though I had hoped not that much. Also one of the hydraulic hoses from the remote filter adapter leaks a little. I'm starting to think between the two of them, oil gets blown back onto the bellhousing making it look like it's the culprit. I wiped it clean, drove up a steep pile of dirt, and no oil was coming out the bellhousing drain, which it would be doing if it was the rear main. VC gasket seems good as well. It only seems to drip after driving it for a while.

Yeah, turbo is pushing a lot of oil. After tightening the clamp I'm smoking like a mother. May now have a boost leak somewhere else as I can barely make 12 psi. Turbo coming off....
