Any of them out there that are double v-belt crank pulleys?

The stock AC setup from the Fox is just barely too far out, it's a 3-piece setup. Looks like a double-groove v-belt pulley would be perfect.

The GTD engine I have from a 1992 Passat has a double V belt pulley. The one on the oustide being a smaller diameter.

028105263E could be the part number...

Diesels with PS have a double V crank pulley. I may have one kicking around...

Any chance I could get you to make some measurements for me? Mostly I need the measurement from the flat face that mates against the crankshaft pulley to the first groove, and then the distance between grooves. To the centers in each case, if possible, pleeeeease.

For some reason, my Mk1 TD without A/C and without PS came with a dual groove crank pulley. Annnnd I own a Fox with A/C! I'll try to remember to go out and compare things this evening.

For my diesel crank pulley, it is .75" from the flat face that mates with the timing sprocket to the center of the first groove. Also from the flat face it's about 1.375" to the middle of the second groove, which makes them about .625" apart center to center.

I don't know what you're trying to do, but as was already mentioned, the outer V on the diesel P/S crank pulley is about 1.25" smaller in diameter than the inner. The Fox double-groove crank pulley has both Vs the same diameter (which appear to be the same size as the larger diesel P/S crank pulley).

Also, as you may already be aware, the outer pulley on the Fox has shims to adjust the belt tension, so you might be able to take some shims out and it might pull in to the right distance.

Okay, at it's tightest to the crank pulley, the stock AC pulley center is 1 7/16" from the crank sprocket mating surface. This is too far out, the belt from the AC rides somewhere between the water pump/alternator belt pulley and the AC pulley.

Since the AC compressor is not moving from it's stock spot, I need a pulley that accounts for the increase in crankshaft sprocket thickness. I'm not sure what the thickness difference is, but I can measure a gas sprocket if someone else can measure a diesel sprocket.

The diesel crank sprocket teeth are 1.375" wide.

Just went out and measured, but I don't think I got a good read as it was pretty dark. If I measured right, the gas sprocket is a mere 13/16" in thickness, which would make the diesel sprocket nearly twice as thick at 22/16".

Now, assuming my measurement is accurate, I'd need a two-groove pulley where the outer v-belt groove is only 23/16 - (22/16-13/16) = 14/16, or 7/8" from the crank sprocket mating surface. Somehow I doubt I'm gonna find one of those.

Especially considering that's only 1/16" shy of where the stock Fox crankshaft pulley for the waterpump ends.

Now, it might be possible for me to put a 5/16" spacer behind the crank pulley to get that stock Fox pulley to line up, but then I'd be up a creek without a paddle with respect to the water pump pulley.

Unfortunately, I can't use any stock solutions here. The stock Dasher setup uses a heavy boat anchor of a bracket that has the front torque stop integrated into it, and the Quantum TD uses a York piston compressor instead of my Foxen's nice efficient Sankyo rotary compressor.

Where is the AC on you transverse folks' cars? On the manifold side, or on the radiator side of the engine?

Radiator side. The A/C compressor is mounted on top of the water pump, and the alternator is above that and forward of the injection pump.

Crap. You guys got anything on that manifold side? Anything at all?

Daaaang. I'm getting plugged here. I have a radiator sitting beside my engine, the injection pump and water pump just barely fit between the block and radiator.

Afraid not. Just heatshields and a driveshaft. Even the P/S pump is mounted on front, below the A/C (just forward of the oil pan.

Hmmmm... maybe I can build up some bars to move the AC bracket forward that 9/16" that it needs to be moved to use the stock Fox bits.
