Has anyone used one of these heads. A VW parts supplier I use (PartsPlace) advertised they had new heads for 1.6 turbos for $525 which included the cam, lifters, springs, valves and all adjusted up ready to install. The head they sent me was not a factory VW head but one from this Topline company. I installed it. I guess I will find out

Well I have Topline pistons in my car.
I've seen the heads and looked ok but you cant see the metallurgy so??
Anyway, I doubt you will have any problems. I found out Topline made heads just after I bought a used one from Canada, had it shipped here, taken to the machine shop. Hell I'm into the damn thing close to what you paid for a new one.. If I would have known.

I belive the price is exchange, and you only get the full core refund if the head is rebuildable. If my head was rebuildable I wouldn't be needing a new head.
I was told the head was ready to be bolted on and drive. I found a LOT of metal chips in the head I recieved. I mentioned it going into an autocross car. "thats a racing application" so no warranty for me. :x Even tho autocross is limited to highway speeds and I drive just as hard on the street, or sometimes harder, than I do autocrossing.
Moral of the story, if you tell them it will be your daily driver econobox, and take it apart and clean it before you put it on, you should be good.

Perty sure it's a good head, I've had mine for 40,000 miles w/o a problem.
PS. Topline's turbo and NA heads have the same part #.

Thats why I got one. I had to have a mechanical head. Looks like an old VW casting. VW cam fit in with perfect clearance via plastigage measure.
