got a cluster with a tach in ti from a 90 diesel jetta, instaled it in the car, everyting else works but the tach. have the w terminal connected
, but have not been able to trace it to the 7 pin connecter in the cluster, doese any one know if the w terminal wire changes from the colour of black/red before it comes to the connector in the cluster.

also my oil light works fine, but myu battery light comes on until I blip the "loud pedal" then it turns off.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

You don't rev a VW diesel, you increase the clatter.

The battery light is common. Goes off once you rev it up a little bit right after a start. If it goes back on then you have issues.

ok. I have 12 volts off the w terminal wire, and when I connect the jumper, I went and bought another cluster, just in case it was the cluster that was bad, reconnected still dosen't work even with a jumper to the pin that the tach is connected to.

My car never came with a tach from factory, is there any wiring or parts that are left out that must be installed for the tach to work.

thewhole cluster is from a 90 jetta td that had a tach in it.
