T3 on AAZ, 2.5" or 3" exhaust?
« on: June 02, 2008, 04:05:22 pm »
hi everyone, I finally got around to stripping my old K03 off my 97 jetta and replacing it with a T3 an' going to have a full exhaust fabbed up.  should I go with 2.5" or 3" ? Keep in mind that the whole thing will be done from turbo to the end.

also, on a T3 if I want to run 30 psi boost, do I have to block the wastegate??
seems to me I read something about thes in here

I would try to go for 3" exhaust for sure. I have a t3 on my AAZ and I had to weld the wastegate shut to get to 30psi; this is hard on the turbo and makes a lot of heat so I use the max fuel screw to keep the boost down around 25. This turbo had new bearings 30000k ago and oil changes every 6 months and it's loose already.

I would get a manual boost controller. I have mine blocked off and it obviously makes more than 20 it pegs my boost gauge out.

As Chestrockwell said its going to be very hard on your turbo. I also have 3".

I welded the passage between the wastegate port and the exducer of the turbine. Then i just put the plate back on the wastegate. I plan to make a dump pipe for the wastegate and run a MBC.

The turbo really wakes up around 10PSI it shoots up past 20 on my gauge very quick.
