quick timing question, at my witts end...
« on: May 27, 2008, 06:43:10 pm »
when timing the pump. the bentley instructs to set a 1mm preload after turning the crank ccw til the gauge stops moving. then turning it back to tdc and turning the pump body to set the pump to the proper lift.

if i were aiming for .93mm would i set the lift to .93mm or 1.93mm?

also, if anyone has any alternative methods for setting pump lift timing, please share them with me. i can not, for the lift of me, get this thing to run right...

If you have 1.00mm preload you are setting it to 1.93 +/- 0.05ish.

If you can't get it to 1.93mm then you are off a tooth. Make sure the stupid cold start is pushed in

i feel like an idiot...

its a little too late to fire it up, but ill try it in the morning. im pretty sure thats all i needed to do.

i was over here trying to figure out how to get the timing to drop down to .93mm... i had retarded the pump 2 teeth trying to do this and now i feel like an idiot.

1.93mm, here i come.

I think my Bentley says the preload should be 2.5 or greater.  Double check yours.
