Pulled a 1.9 from a 95 A3 that wasn't starting anymore. Checked compression, all good. checked crank pulley- probably worse one i've seen so far. What is everyone doing too fix the crank end. Rebuilt? Send out to weld and machine? Do any vendors sell them on exchange? I did a search but couldn't find anything specific.
some people just machine the crank in place, by putting the groove offset from the 'keyway' and use the tdi sprocket to fit there, and then torque it down with some loctite.
I think if you search for:
aaz AND crank AND key*
you'll get some stuff that's of value.
after reading your answers, i realized that it really doesn't matter if the pulley is rotated to a different place, as long as you time it by the flywheel. awesome and perfect.
