My 1.6td lost oil and seized. I tore it down and the bores are in great shape and I ran a hone over them. I am wondering if any one knows if I can use the crank from an 81 na that I have, might there be any problems with seals, bearings, oiling, or pullys?

I don't know offhand. But you could check VAGCAT.com and compare the part numbers.

a turbo crank is different, its hardened at one end or the other or some other crap, but they are interchangable.

I am goin to use it as a na, so i should be fine?
I live in a rural area but I dont have access to a Bently and I dont know what size bearings to buy, how do I know if they need to be replaced or if I can reuse them?

If the engine seized you are not going to reuse the old bearings. You need the book and check the bores with a micrometer and compare those numbers to the books numbers. Then with all that info you can determine if you need a line bore or just new bearings.

I did not mean that I was going to use the bearings of of the seized crank. I was wondering if there was a way too know if the bearings that are on the donor crank on the donor motor were in need of replacement?

I would worry about tearing it down before you worry about what to get for it. If you lost oil, you could have damaged the journals, then you'd have to get it turned and would need a different size.

I already tore it down and the seizur was on the crank to connecting rod all of the journals are in great shape. I am going to take a crank out of a na motor that I have and install it into my td with new rings, seals and bearings.

All you have to do is look at the bearing from the NA engine. If they are stock then you should be able to just get new stock sized bearings.
Same with the rod bearings.
