Beer and Pizza for Clutch Help **Possible Custom Down Pipe**
« on: April 18, 2005, 10:27:53 pm »
Hey if anyone is good at doing VW, clutch's I could use a hand. I have done 1 FWD clutch and it was a pain, I have done lots of RWD/4WD clutch's, but no VW clutch's. :?

Anyway like the title says if you can lend a hand I am supplying Pizza and Beer, or your other favorite beverage. I have some airtools, lots of hand tools, a "lift" (big forklift). :P

 ***If your really good (ie. not much involvment from me, other then to hand you tools and beer) there will be a Custom Down Pipe in it for you, or other fab work if you would rather***

You can Email me, PM me or post up. I live in chillwack, but if you would rather do it at your place I am open to traveling within the lower mainland.

It's really not that hard.  I've never done one before my Rocco, and I think it took me all of 45 minutes to get the tranny out.  I think you only need like 3 sockets, a 17, a 19 and like a 12 or something.  Plus the 12-point socket for the flywheel.  I was suprised at how easy it was.  If you have more than one jack, now is the time to use them.  ;)  One under the engine, one under the tranny.   When the front, rear and drivers side mounts are loose, tilt the engine down toward the drivers side as much as possible, undo the bellhousing bolts, give her a yank, and make sure you dont have any body parts under the tranny when she goes.  :)  Actually, a spot about three inches or so in front of the differential housing is a good place to put the jack, as the tranny balances pretty well there.  Good luck, you can do it!  :)

Hello:  remember one thing:  if you let the weight of the transmission be supported by the mainshaft, you are going to need another transmission.
