Clutch & cylinder head questions.
« on: March 09, 2008, 08:43:01 pm »
First off i'd like to say great site, very usefull info that has helped me out thus far!

Buddy of mine won a clutch as a door prize at a local car show,
Sachs clutch, Part #ZVW 332 017, for 93-95 AZZ TD's, He has no use for it since hes a gasser, and has offered me the clutch (for free :D) too use in my car, a 91 1.6TD. Is the clutch compatable with the 1.6, or is it a completely different piece and i should just pony up for the proper one?

Also whats the difference between an NA cylinder head and a TD ?
I have a chance to get a fresh off the self (although mexican made) bare head, no valves, lifters cam etc, for next to nothing, but would like to know how to identify it before i go through to effort of putting it together, only to have it melt at 25psi.

Cheers  :D

Different clutch on the 1.6, but I think you could make it work if you came up with the right flywheel.  Wouldn't worry about the cylinder head, there's a lot of mexican cars on the road with a lot of miles.........

If you get the AAZ flywheel and pressure plate it will work fine. It's a larger diameter

Would a 16v or regular gasser flywheel work?

I think I heard that the gas flywheels have different timing marks on them but I'm not positive

The Audi gas flywheel has some marks besides the 0 TDC, but I'm using one on my diesel, I just ignore the extra marks.
