Cold Start Shaft Cover Seals in DGK126 Green?

I am resealing my pump and the only seals that look to fit the cold start shaft covers are green with ridges on top but, they don't seem fat enough.

They the correct ones?

Yep. Those are the ones for the cold start caps. They are a mint green with grooves on each side. There should also be some black o-rings for the shaft. I bought a kit from VW for just the cold-start shaft and cover. It just had those green seals and the black o-rings.

Rebuilding your pump? Let us know how it goes.

Thanks, makes me feel better, considering the pump is now on with a new timing belt and timed. It's good to know that was them, I found the O-Rings OK.

Probably won't start it until the morning, I am finishing up the accessories now, then I'll change my oil.
I will let you know how it goes, Not a complete rebuild, I did the head seal back when I put the motor in. I mainly wanted to get my leaky cold start shaft dealt with before I left for Boston. I started to do the top cover but, decided not to. Too little time, or should I say, too much wasted time.... I am so pissed at UPS, my hoses and belts never arrived, spent today going back and forth to advanced for the wrong belt 3 times (even thought I had my old ones), and also figuring out what to do with my iffy diesel eaten hoses, I gave them a bath in hot soap and water, a throughout drying, and them wrapped them in high temp / water proof butyl backed foil tape and then a layer of Gorilla tape. Sort of a preemptive road side repair..... I couldn't find hoses to save my life, I am taking some stuff to coble together a hose if need be too adapters, misc hose, etc... Needless to say my drive up the east coat will be interesting.. :D

I am going to have to redo this whole job again after I get there  :x  ditch the Dayco belts, reused TB Idler and taped hoses, with any luck when I do, Giles will get to change the top cover seal  :P

Well, if you crap out in Nashville, I've got most new parts for these 1.6 motors sitting in my basement. So, if *** really hits the fan, I can lend a hand and some parts. I've got all the tools too.

So, if you hit a snag and can make it to Nash Vegas, you can crash here and fix yer ride. I can also give some tips on places in Boston to hit: I lived there for 5 years. I highly recommend the Model Cafe in Allston for boosing, the Wonderbar (also in Allston), and there are tons of cool places.

Anyway, give a call if you have any problems (615) 554- 6936.

Thanks Quantum TD and Gearhead, I'll keep it in mind, hopefully I won't need to.

The job is done, It runs nice!!!

Timing was a big help runs much smoother. Cold Start Shaft seals did the trick too, no more diesel dripping or squirting out of there depending on it's mood. That means all of my fuel will now go to MPG. :D The timing must have been way off before, runs and idles soo much smoother.

It's a shame I am going to have to redo it all but, I think she is fine shape for the trip, the foil / gorilla tape treatment on the hoses was interesting, they are firmer now for sure. maybe a little too, they were a bear to get back on.

My only beefs now are the Alt belt is too loose and I've got it adjusted all the way out but by the time I had the A/C tightened up and could adjust the Alt it was too late, I was too frustrated and I was not going back to Advanced for a 4th time especially after the 3rd time I argued with guy and asked him to please just get me the belt that crossed directly to the number on my old belt but, he insisted on getting me the belt that the computer said I needed......  :x

It does OK, but squeaks just after startup, a little belt dressing helped, I am sure it will stretch and maybe not even make the trip but, I fooled around for 2 days with the counter monkeys at Advanced, I am done.

I postponed departure until tomorrow, I spent so much time last night and today with the car i got no family time. I am heading to Orlando tomorrow after non and staying with a friend (the one that gave me the Jetta when it had blown gasser) I'll find a proper belt there, heck maybe even Contis. My friend works in service at an Audi Dealership, I am sure well come up with something. Thursday Morning I'll head up 95, well see how my in a pinch job does.

Or heck maybe my original parts order of good parts will finally show..    As of 3:00 UPS wasn't sounding like it though.

Thanks for the input on the pump, she is back together, dry on the outside and running like a champ
