I need some info on oil return location on a "na" pan.I saw a conversion kit that tapped it alittle "offst: of the turbo. Is there anything thats gonna be in the was when it comes to reassemble the engine?I dont hve a body yet so i have nothing to reference.Basically, does it matter where (side to side)it is tapped?
What chassis? I think the A1s are wide open, A2s have moter cradle things going on.
It could be either or im leaning toward mk2 rabbit.Where/how would the cradle interfere. Is it the lower engine mount.
I don't think you can screw it up if you put it directly below the turbo drain port, and keep it close to the block.
Any A2 types out there that can lend an opinion?
Worst case, Black Forest Industries on the Vortex sells new TD pans with the right return nerd allready in the pan, and I'm pritty sure that all 1.6TD pans are the same. (extremely rare TD Vanogon pans not withstanding)
The only problem you might run into is the rear motor mount on the mk2s. The stock setup has the drain going through the motor mount bracket
One thing BFI notes is their oil return doesn't get in the way of the removing the oil pan bolts.

And Quantum TD pans, as well? They're longitudinal in orientation...
Oh yah, thats right. I think I got bit on that, putting togather my 1.5TD. Is the quantum nerple in generally the same location, but points in a different direction?
